The feeling you can’t quite name

Everything is in place. Yet the room still feels static.

A small change in movement can completely change how a space feels.

01

An empty corner

The room looks complete on paper, yet one area still has no purpose or focal point.

02

A hard-working office

Screens, cabinets and straight lines make the space feel efficient—but overly static.

03

Generic decoration

You want something meaningful and alive, not one more object that simply sits there.

04

Feng Shui uncertainty

North, East or Southeast? You want a clear starting point that still fits your real room.

05

No renovation appetite

You want a distinct water feature without plumbing works or a constructed pond.

06

A memorable gift

A housewarming or business-opening piece should feel intentional, not disposable.

Why moving water

Most of a room is still. Water changes the rhythm.

Walls, furniture, cabinets, screens and décor remain stationary. Flowing water introduces a layer the eye can keep discovering.

Practical & sensory

What you can see and hear

  • Continuous visual movement
  • Gentle ambient water sound
  • Light reflections and changing texture
  • Contrast against static surroundings
  • A clear visual focal point
  • More intentional atmosphere

A simple way to bring movement, texture and a calmer rhythm into the room.

Traditional Feng Shui

What water symbolises

In traditional Feng Shui, water is commonly associated with movement, circulation and opportunity. Moving water is often used symbolically to encourage flow rather than stagnation.

This is a cultural and traditional framework—not a scientific guarantee of wealth, health, luck or business success.

Water flow direction

Let the visible flow move into the space.

Traditional Feng Shui commonly prefers water to appear to move toward the interior, living area or working area—not directly out through an entrance or exterior exit.

Think of the flow as symbolically bringing movement into the space rather than carrying it away.

The AH ceramic fountain

You don’t need to renovate your space to change its atmosphere.

A compact tabletop water feature adds movement, plant texture and a distinct visual anchor to a home, office or reception area.

Will it fit my space?

Six realistic places to make water feel intentional.

At 21 cm long and 18.5 cm wide, the fountain is a tabletop feature—not a floor-standing installation.

01

Living room

Turn a side table or console into a point of movement that can be seen across the room.

02

Entrance console

Create a welcoming first impression while directing visible flow toward the interior.

03

Office

Soften the hard lines of screens, shelves and storage with a compact moving feature.

04

Reception

Give waiting visitors a composed focal point without taking over the room.

05

Study

Place within view but far enough away that the water sound does not distract.

06

Feature corner

Give an unused shelf, counter or credenza a deliberate role in the space.

Self-contained circulation

How a tabletop fountain works.

In a typical self-contained indoor fountain, water returns to the reservoir and circulates again. Follow the actual pump instructions supplied by the seller.

Setup & care

Easy to understand. Simple to care for.

A few regular habits keep the water clear, the ceramic tidy and the fountain ready to enjoy.

01

Place securely

Use a stable, level, splash-resistant surface close to a suitable power point. Keep cables tidy and away from foot traffic.

02

Fill before running

Add water to the indicated level, keep the pump submerged and follow the supplied pump instructions before first use.

03

Check the water level

Evaporation varies with room conditions. Check regularly and top up before the pump intake becomes exposed.

04

Refresh & wipe

Replace stale water, wipe surfaces and remove visible deposits. Filtered or distilled water can reduce mineral marks where tap water is hard.

05

Clean the pump

Disconnect power first. Periodically clear debris from the pump intake and impeller according to the pump manufacturer’s guidance.

06

Manage algae

Keep the fountain out of harsh direct sun, refresh the water and clean the ceramic surfaces regularly.

Frequently asked

Before you bring water home.

Practical answers about placement, Kua directions, setup and everyday care.

What is my Feng Shui Kua number?

A Kua or Gua number is a traditional Eight Mansions profile calculated from the Feng Shui birth year and the gender convention used by this system. AH shows both the calculated number and the interpreted number when Kua 5 applies.

How is Kua number calculated?

The birth-year digits are reduced, then a traditional gender-specific formula is applied. The formula changes for years from 2000 onward. The AH calculator uses the Li Chun solar-year convention rather than silently treating January 1 as the boundary.

Does birth date affect Feng Shui direction?

In Eight Mansions practice, the birth year determines the Kua number. A birthday close to Li Chun in early February may belong to the previous or new Feng Shui year depending on the exact annual transition time and timezone.

Do I need birth time for Kua calculation?

No. Birth time is not used for the standard Eight Mansions Kua result. It may be relevant to other systems such as BaZi, but it is not required here.

Which direction represents wealth in Feng Shui?

Southeast is commonly associated with prosperity and abundance in simplified directional Feng Shui. Personal Eight Mansions prosperity orientation is a separate layer and varies by Kua number.

Where should I put a water fountain for wealth?

Southeast is a common simplified starting point, with North often considered for career or opportunity symbolism. A complete property assessment may reach a different conclusion based on the building chart and school used.

Where should I place a water fountain in my home?

Choose a stable, visible surface in a living area, entrance console or feature corner. Protect power points, keep the route clear, make refilling easy and position the visible flow toward the occupied interior rather than directly out an exit.

Can I place a water fountain in my office?

Yes. A reception credenza, meeting-room corner or desk-adjacent surface can work if the sound and movement are comfortable, cables are managed and the feature does not obstruct work or foot traffic.

Should water flow toward or away from the entrance?

Traditional Feng Shui commonly prefers visible flow to appear to move into the living or working area rather than directly out through an exterior door. This is symbolic guidance, not a guaranteed financial effect.

Is Southeast good for a water fountain?

Southeast is commonly used in simplified Feng Shui because it is traditionally associated with prosperity and abundance. It is not universally correct for every property or every Feng Shui method.

Is North good for a water fountain?

North is traditionally associated with career, opportunity and life path, so it is often considered for water symbolism. Property-specific suitability may still depend on orientation and the method used.

Can my personal Kua direction differ from the best water fountain sector?

Yes. Your personal favourable direction describes a supportive orientation for you. A sector used for moving water is a different placement question. AH keeps these two layers visibly separate.

Does a Feng Shui water fountain guarantee wealth?

No. Feng Shui is a traditional cultural practice and does not guarantee wealth, health, luck or business success. The fountain also has practical design value through visible movement, texture and ambient water sound.

Do indoor water fountains require much maintenance?

They require regular water-level checks and periodic cleaning. General care includes preventing the pump from running dry, wiping deposits, refreshing water and following the seller or pump manufacturer’s instructions.

Can I leave the fountain running all day?

Follow the supplied pump instructions and keep the water level sufficient. Switch the fountain off before cleaning, moving or refilling it.

Do water fountains use a lot of electricity?

Electricity use varies by pump. Check the pump rating on the packaging or ask the seller if energy use is important to you.
